Goudouras

Goudouras is a well-known fishing village on the Libyan Sea. It is situated 12 Km east of Makrigialos and offers unforgettable experiences thanks to the natural wild beauty, the crystal clear waters and the unique beaches.

In a large valley surrounded by the rugged mountains and canyons there are the two settlements, Asprolithos to the west and Goudouras to the east. Goudouras consists from these two settlements.

The village is built near the edge of Cape Goudouras, (the ancient Cape Erythrae,) and took the name of the homonymous cape. The name Goudouras now becomes from the local plant “agoudouros” (Hypericum triquetrifolium), that abounds in the area and used as a substrate for drying fruits.

The area's very warm climate is ideal for the cultivation of out-of-season vegetables, greenhouse products and the olives as well. The vegetables from the greenhouses is the main income source for the local residences.

The village has faced a very mild touristic development and this makes it a very quiet destination even for the August.
